POP-UP SHOPS

Embrace your five minutes of fame on an international stage in the “mini” 15 × 20 pechakucha presentations.

Pechakucha (Japanese for “chit-chat”) is a fast-paced style of presentation developed in Tokyo as a way for a community to share their influences and inspirations without getting bogged down by details. Usually a 20 x 20 format in which 20 slides automatically advance at a rate of 20 seconds each while a presenter speaks, the pechakucha format encourages flowing presentations summarizing big ideas so that listeners can enjoy a wide variety of perspectives in a single evening.

Spaces are limited - shops are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, pending organizer approval.

Participants must have a PayPal account.

HOW IT WORKS

Pop-up shops cost $55 USD for equipment rental in each city. Participants may choose to have a shop in Nagoya, Yamagata, or both (for a combined $110 USD). Each shop will be provided with 1 90 x 180cm (3 x 6ft) table with wheels and a raised rim, and 1 chair. Participants can choose to rent additional racks for xx.

There will be staff on hand to watch over the shops and process sales (roughly two people and ten tables), so vendors need not be present at all times. The shops will in protected indoor locations - a venue on the streets of Arimatsu for the duration of the symposium in Nagoya, and a room inside the Onuma department store during the symposium in Yamagata. Shops will be open to the public.

Sales will be processed by ISS staff and a 15% commission will be charged on all sales.

Participants are responsible for carrying or shipping their goods to and from the symposium. If you choose to have a shop in both Nagoya and Yamagata, your goods will be transported from Nagoya to Yamagata for you by ISS staff.
